UK education system

Everything you should know

The UK education system is worldwide reputed for its high quality and standards. In general, the British higher education system has five stages of education: early years, primary years, secondary education, Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE)

pHs College specialises in 11 plus and GCSE exam preparation

11 Plus

The 11 Plus is a selective entrance examination that can be taken by pupils in year 6. Up until the early 1970s all children took the 11 Plus, however, the test is no longer compulsory. It is used by those in areas with grammar schools and selective independent schools to identify academic ability and potential.

GCSE

A General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) is a qualification normally taken by most UK students at the end of compulsory education. It normally take two years and you take the final exams when you’re 16. At GCSE level you must study certain subjects like English, Science and Maths.
